This talk is suitable for researchers working on the area of Data mning, Big data, knoweledge discovery, and Data analytics. It can also host graduate and undergraduate students interested in this area or related areas. Developers and architect solution can benefit from this talk as architectural design principals and implementation detail of such Big data ecosystem will be presented.
Big data has witness a big memontum this last few years. Its value has significantly been apparent in diffferent areas and has proven to be the next shift in the way organization, governments, and event countries will develop their degree competitiveness and build their vital economy sectors. Data is being generated worldwide from scientific discoveries, sensors, social media and other sources. Big data goes through a comprehensive lifecycle which involves a set of processes including data collection, pre-processing, processing and storage, analytics and visiualization. These processes encompass the adoption and application of a variety of emerging Big data technologies to support Big data through its lifecycle from pre-processing to its visualization. Examples of these technologies inlcude: Hadoop ecosystem, MapReduce, Spark, HDFS, Hive, etc.
This talk covers the curent state of the art in Big Data technologies, standards, platforms and solutions from both the academia and industry perspective. To illustrate the described Big Data concepts a couple of descriptive examples will be presented. Furthermore, highlights of Big data impact on the devlopment of people, business organizations, and governments and eventulally the value added services it provides. Big data will play a key factor in the development of different areas including healthcare, smart cities, renewable energy, IoT, and others.
Big data involves management of intensive, continuous, and heterogeneous data. From sensing, transmitting, storing, processing, to accessing this data form different systems, many challenges have to be considered. These challenges include but not limited to: pre/post processing of Big data, seamless access to the Big data, data analytics, cost management, Big data quality, visualization and personalization of Big data, integration of various technologies, and assessing trade-offs between all of these issues combined together.
M. Adel Serhani is currently an Associate Professor, at the College of Information Technology, U.A.E University, Al Ain, U.A.E. He is also an Adjunct faculty in CIISE, Concordia University, Canada. Dr. Serhani holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Concordia University, Canada (August 2006), and MSc. in Software Engineering from University of Montreal, Canada (January 2002). Serhani’s main research interests include: Non-invasive Smart health monitoring, Cloud federation and monitoring, Web services architecture, management and QoS monitoring; Web services in Mobile and Ad-Hoc networks; management of communities of Web services; Web services applications and security; and Cloud data centers for intensive e-health data, applications, and services; SLA enforcement in Cloud Data centers, and Big data value chain. Dr. Serhani has a large experience earned through his involvement and management of different R&D projects. He served on several organizing and Technical Program Committees, including the IEEE DEST, IEEE WiMob, IEEE IWCMC, IEEE IIT, WMNC, and NDT. He was the program Co-chair of the IEEE conference on Innovations in Information Technology (IIT’13), Chair of IEEE Workshop on Web service (IWCMC’13), Chair of IEEE workshop on Web, Mobile, and Cloud Services (IWCMC’12), and Co-chair of International Workshop on Wireless Sensor Networks and their Applications (NDT’12). He has published more than 90 refereed conferences, journals, and book chapters.

"Cloud Forensics: Challenges and Opportunities"
The adoption of cloud computing for both business and personal use has revolutionised how electronic media is accessed, shared and processed. In order to benefit from the vast array of opportunities cloud computing offers, organisations and individuals must accept a transition from their traditional practices, adapt and adjust to the requirements of cloud computing. Digital Forensics is one area, which can be highly impacted by the emergence of cloud computing. How can Cloud computing be leveraged to benefit the digital forensics communities? and how Cloud computing could pose real challenges for future digital forensics practices? This talk will, therefore, review and analyse potential challenges and opportunities, cloud computing could present for contemporary digital forensic practices and discusses future trends. A special focus of the talk will be devoted to the new and emerging area of Cloud Forensics, the state of the art and current challenges and future research trends. A reference to the links between Cloud forensic and Big Data and IOT will also be emphasised during this talk.
Elhadj Benkhelifa (Associate Professor) is a passionate academic and professional, recognized for his excellence in Research and Enterprise, Leadership and Management. He has served as the Director of the Mobile Fusion Applied Research Centre (MF-ARC), where his roles spaned across all research centres in the University. Elhadj has attained a wealthy experience in attracting National and European research Funding and has led several national and transnational projects. Elhadj has chaired and/or co-chaired a number of international conferences/Workshops. Elhadj is the founding head of Cloud Computing and Applications Research Lab, and is currently the principal supervisor of six PhD students. Elhadj has published close to 100 research papers in peer reviewed journals, conferences and as books chapters. Elhadj’s research is pioneering in a number of advanced areas in Cloud Computing including Software Defined Systems, Cloud-IOT converged areas, Cloud-Driven Semantic-Web, Cloud based testing and virtual environment testing, Cloud-based Collaborative Software Development, Cloud computing resilience and survivability, Cloud malware, bio-inspired solutions for Cloud computing, Fog and Edge Computing, Cloudlet, Mobile Cloud Computing, Cloud-driven Data analytics, Cloud computing and Big Data, Parallel Computing. My research expertise also covers aspects of computational science, applied soft computing and artificial intelligence, including evolutionary computing, multidisciplinary optimization involving multiple simulations, self-healing Embryonics systems and evolvable hardware. Elhadj has successfully co-founded a number of pioneering workshops and conferences, with elite scientists from all over the world, to cover a number of these research areas.
